I found this tutorial very useful both for Photoshop and Maya. I've never used the patch tool in Photoshop and never really tried it and I can see it being very helpful in the future. It was interesting to see how different nodes could be used to make a layered texture in Maya although I can see the nodes becoming a hassle if they aren't kept organized.
