@Alan - Maya 2016 Extension 2 Errors
I'm not quite sure why this is happening, as I can open all of my files in Maya 2015, 2016 and 2016 with Extension 1...but once I try opening anything with Extension 2 (I've tried both the 'recommended' download on the Autodesk site and the Service Package that was made avaliable on September 8th) it instantly crashes. On a very very rare occasion, it'll open a file (this applies to any files I try to open) it won't crash, but once I close the file and try to open anything else it begins to crash for everything again. It only does this when I try to open a file, and I'm not quite sure why...I've struggled to find anything online about this so I thought I'd post this up just in case you might know what I'm doing wrong...

Hi Deanna. I'm not entirely sure why this is happening without taking a look at your computer but my guess would be a graphics or memory problem. Which graphics card do you have?
ReplyDeleteI can bring in my laptop into uni. I had simon have a look at it, it's very odd because even if i make something fresh, save it, then close it...even then it won't open the file. For example, if I open maya, create a polygon cube, save then close...it'll give me this error if I try to open it again. However, it works fine if I import files which is strange.
DeleteMy computer is a a Macbook Pro Retina, 15-inch (2013) with OS X 10.9.5, the graphics is NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB (although if I go into system report there is also Intel Iris Pro but I have my computer set so it always uses the better graphics) and memory is 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
Suppose I just find it strange as sometimes I can get Extension 2 to work, it just maybe 1/10 times after I restart my computer. And I can import and use Maya 2016 extension 1 just fine...all of my files work fine in uni and I've done a clean uninstall (everything Autodesk related removed from my computer including Library folders) and reinstalled, so not really sure what's going on...but I'll bring my laptop in if that helps.
Try saving your files as a .ma (ascii) film not a .mb (binary) file.
ReplyDeleteI gave it a go...it still gives me the error and crashes...
Deletefilm = file
